Registration for the Power Up grant of up to €4,000 for retail, beauty and hospitality businesses closes on Friday 8 November.
What is the Power Up grant?
The government announced the Power Up grant as part of Budget 2025 for businesses in the beauty, retail and hospitality sectors. The Power Up grant has a budget of €170 million and the grant for eligible businesses is €4,000.
Who is eligible for Power Up?
There are two types of qualifying business:
- a business that received the second payment under the Increased Cost of Business scheme (ICOB) and continues to meet the ICOB criteria
- businesses in the hospitality, beauty and retail sectors that did not have a rates bill in 2023 may qualify if they meet the criteria. Those businesses should check with their local authority to check eligibility once the scheme goes live.
How do I Register?
Don’t delay with registering, the Power Up registration portal is open for a limited time in order to get payments to businesses before the end of the year.
Registering is similar to ICOB registration and is quick and easy.
Please go to mycoco.ie/powerup for further information.
If you have not received an email and think you may be eligible please contact your Local Authority.
The only additional information required is a self- declaration confirming that your business is trading and will continue to trade for at least three months following the date of your submission (including those seasonally closing businesses who intend to reopen in Spring 2025).
The Local Authorities will manage the rollout of the grant to eligible businesses.
What is the eligibility for the Grant?
The main eligibility criteria are the same as for the Increased Cost of Business Scheme:
- Your business must be a commercially trading entity currently operating from a property that is commercial rateable.
- Your business must be trading at the time of payment and intend to continue trading for at least three months from the date of your submission (including those seasonally closing businesses who intend to reopen in Spring 2025).
